UV Sterilization

UV Sterilization is known to be an effective disinfectant due to its strong germicidal (inactivating) ability. UV disinfects water containing bacteria and viruses and can be effective against protozoans, like Giardia lamblia cysts.

Ultraviolet water purification is the most effective method for disinfecting bacteria from the water. UV rays penetrate harmful pathogens in your home’s water and destroy illness-causing microorganisms by attacking their genetic core (DNA).  In order to kill microorganisms, the UV rays must actually strike the cell. UV energy penetrates the outer cell membrane, passes through the cell body and disrupts its DNA preventing reproduction.   UV disinfection DOES NOT remove dissolved organics, inorganics or particles in the water
