Description

Description

Nitrate (NO3) comes into water supplies through the nitrogen cycle rather than via dissolved minerals. It is one of the major ions in natural waters. Most nitrate in drinking water is the result of contamination of ground water supplies by septic systems, feed lots and agricultural fertilizers. Nitrate is reduced to nitrite in the body. These cartridges contain a special nitrate-selective resin. Nitrate reduction is 90% to 95% and breakthrough is not affected by sulfate levels.

The process of regeneration involves dissolving salt in water (2-3 cups of salt for every 3-4 cups of water) stir well and soak (you may want to use something to hold the cartridge down) the cartridge for 1-2 hours, then soak cartridge in tap water for an additional 1-2 hours, rinse with tap running tap water and reinstall cartridge. Regeneration is not required before its first use even if the cartridge has been unopened for a period of time.
